Super Size Me

A few weeks ago Cobi came home and said they were watching the documentary "Super Size Me". He was unable to see the end of it and was curious as to how much weight Morgan had gained etc and asked if we could watch it together. I had been wanting to see it for awhile and since it was available to stream instantly to on netflix we did watch it. (We use our Xbox 360 to stream the movies so they go right to the tv rather than watch on the laptop). I knew the gist of the movie but was still a little in shock by some of it. Any craving for fast food I have is now gone. In one month this man raised his levels to almost lethal levels. Sure he was eating McDonalds everyday, 3x a day for a month and I don't do that, but he was in perfect health when he started. There have been times when out of convience (ok mostly laziness I confess) that I've ended up hitting the drive-thru 2 times a day (rare, but it's happened). There have been times when we were busy running from after-school activities to sports practice etc that we've eaten several fast food meals in a week. This is not good. Especially if you are already overweight and not in optimum health. The point of him taking such drastic measures was to prove a point. I got the point. Loud and clear. Eating that junk, even a few times a week is gonna not only cause you to gain weight, but it's going to destroy your body. I almost feel like a bad mother for all the times we had more than one fastfood meal in a week. Like I'm inadvertently harming my children. I know this is not the case, but still.... it makes you wonder. It inspired me to save the fast food for rare occasions. Not just for me or because I'm dieting, but because it's important to my families health. Sure my children are all slender (they have been blessed with their fathers metabolism, lucky little suckers) but I was slender too until I was married and had kids. I regret that I haven't watched this documentary sooner! Maybe I'd have been less likey to pack on pounds if I had. We hit an all time eating fast food high last summer after I had the baby because Turtle was working like crazy and I was tired and overwhelmed all the time. Now I'm really kicking myself in the butt!

Last night marks 3 nights of "Just Dance". Im getting less winded with each passing day. We're all having fun laughing at each other. Turtle can be a little bit of a sore loser and I don't want him to not play because then I might quit on it too so I confess that sometimes I don't try so hard so that he either comes close to winning or winning. 3 times he legitimately did beat me though. Aiden just watches and laughs at us and occasionaly, if the mood strikes him, he joins in with his own dancing antics. (we call this "shake your booty". If there is music on and you say that he starts dancing).
