attack of the killer carrorts

It's true, I was attacked by carrots last night!

Turtle lost his job several months ago so I've been trying to save money anywhere I can. This means that I when I saw canned vegetables on sale I bought those instead of the steamfresh frozen I normally buy. I'm not a fan of canned veggies, but again trying to be thrifty. So I cook this awesome dinner. A whole chicken with stuffing (that i wasn't eating because it had waaay too many carbs. Just chicken for me). Turtle pulled my chicken out of the oven and I "unstuffed" it and asked Madison, my & year old to grab a can of veggies. She chose carrots. I got the can opener, which lately has been giving me a hard time, but I keep forgetting to buy a new one. The sucker left the can partialy open and wouldnt let me go over it again to open it fully. So, like a dumb ass I tried pushing it down with my fingers. It worked but sliced my thumb in the process. When I looked at how long and deep the cut was and how much blood I got woozy. I sat down. Turtle immediately went to the medicine cabinet to get "supplies" well we were out of gauze. Why you might ask. Because yours truly can get incredibly irritable and after having the gauze roll out of the medicine cablinet for the 15th time one day just tossed it. So what do you do when someone is bleeding horribly bad and there's nothing to soak up the blood? You grab a maxi pad. No I'm not kidding. He cut the pad to fit my thump and taped it. Well the blood soaked through the pad. It was obvious I needed medical attention. But I was eating not only my dinner but my chocolate marshmallow pudding first. (I wanted all my calories in and wanted to avoid the temptation of stopping somewhere because I was already drooling over the stuffing and almost convinced myself that eating it would make the pain in my thumb go away). So off to the ER we went withmy maxi pad covered thumb. I ended up with 5 stitches. The Dr thought I only needed 3 so the top and bottom stitch wasn't numbed.

Moral of the story: Don't feed the kids canned veggies. Suck up the cost and just buy the darn frozen ones, because if not, the carrots will cut you!

So anyway, today was weigh-in. I weighed in at 192.8 which is a loss of 4.2 lbs and a 3 week total of 11.2 lbs! So with Sundays drama, the agrivation on Wed and Last nights almost thumb amputation (ok that's exaggerating a little) I still managed to have an awesome week.

  1. Sorry to hear about your thumb!! That would suck, I've never had stiches and I never have to experiance them! :( On the other hand ... congrats on your HUGE loss!! 4.2lbs is an amazing loss for one week!! :)
